A sea and an ocean

After the chilling of yesterday we had a day out planned, to collect Alex and see Tarifa. Alex had completed a half ironman triathlon yesterday, then rose at 3am this morning to catch his plane. He then had to get a bus to Algeciras to connect with us. We lazed in bed. At around noon we were ready to depart. 'Are you ready?' We asked Ian. 'Of course, I just have to........................'. Goodness knows what he did, but at 1pm, one hour later, we were ready to depart.

Alex only had to wait 45mins in the bus station at Algeciras before we arrived to pick him up. Then we headed for Tarifa, the point in Europe that is nearest Africa. Indeed we could see Tangiers across the water. We managed to park up after a few false starts and found a cafe for a very pleasant lunch.

Then it was time to find the beach and dip our feet in the Mediterranean,

And then the Atlantic,

Tarifa is the point where the two converge.

We called at a super cheap Lidl on the way back, then after arriving at the ranch went for a swim. A quick tea and then out for a drink completed the day.
